Right-of-Way Tree Replacement Service

Trees are the most common cause of long-term power outages because of the time it takes to clear them from the lines after a storm. Trees also tend to cause blinking lights. Limbs that grow into power lines threaten the safety of children and adults who may come in contact with that tree.

To keep you safe while providing reliable electricity, Boone Electric works hard to keep power lines clear of trees, brush and foliage. The right-of-way program uses several methods to control growth, including trimming, bulldozing and, in some cases, spraying herbicide. In easements, taller growing trees can increase the time it takes to correct an outage by preventing equipment access and reducing visibility.

Free Tree Replacement

Planting taller-growing trees too close to power lines can increase our maintenance costs, which can eventually be reflected in your electric rates. Click here to view a map of the proper planting areas for trees around your home.

When you allow us to eliminate a yard tree that is interfering with power lines, we will replace that tree at no charge. You will have a choice from several species and a safe and efficient location for your new tree.

For more information or to report a tree that may be interfering with a power line, call us at 573-449-4181 and ask for the Right-of-Way Department..
