Why you should join us for Annual Meeting...
It's Your Business
Our Business Meeting is what it’s all about. Hear from your Co-op Directors and Boone Electric's CEO about what’s going on in the Co-op. We’ll have updates from the nitty-gritty financials to talking about the impressive things our employees have been up to like bringing electricity to developing countries.
The next Annual Meeting will be held Friday, July 10, 2020 at Battle High School, 7575 E St. Charles Rd, Columbia, MO.
Annual Meeting truly does have a unique feel. Sure, the night is first and foremost about the business of the Co-op, but that doesn’t mean there’s not any fun. There’s something for the whole family. If you’re new to the Co-op or haven’t made it over to Battle High School, it’s a wonderful facility. The air conditioning is a welcome relief on a hot summer day.
Gifts & Prizes
Everybody loves free things. Members will receive $20 electric credit when they register on their way in. During the business meeting we will draw for several electric credit prizes toward your bill. Also, remember to drop by the ROW Department’s booth and sign up for the drawing to win a free tree. You must be present during the Business Meeting to win these prizes.
There will be several booths available to learn more about the services Boone Electric provides such as Energy Efficiency, Renewable Choice (wind & solar), ROW Department, Boone Electric Community Trust, C.A.S.H. and H.E.L.P., and the SmartHub mobile app. Also, there will be other booths from our power supplier and local community.
As a member of Boone Electric, you have a voice. You can vote in the director election and for bylaw amendments. The founding members of Boone Electric came together in 1936 to create the first rural electric cooperative in Missouri. Boone Electric is led by a Board of Directors who are members. They represent three districts in Boone’s territory and serve 3-year terms.
It’s hard to beat a free meal, especially, when it’s Lee’s Fried Chicken! We also have pulled pork and hot dogs on our menu, and a vegetarian option.
So, sit back and enjoy a meal conversing with your fellow members.
Each year we have several attractions for kids. These include a show in the theater, this year Mr. Stinky Feet is being featured. And a linemen photo booth for kids where they can get decked out in a lineman’s gloves and hat for pictures. An Education Specialist will be on hand to teach electrical safety such as flying kites near power lines or what to do when downed lines fall on a vehicle.
