Your Co-op, Your Vote
One of the seven Co-op Principles is Democratic Member Control. Every July Boone Electric holds an Annual Meeting for its members. We provide a meal, informational booths, hold our business meeting (required by our bylaws) and hold elections for our Board of Directors. The Board, using the bylaws, helps govern and direct all decisions for Boone Electric. We are owned by you! Members have equal voting rights (one member, one vote) and can exercise those member-owner rights at the meeting when voting on bylaw changes and board members. Your participation and input is vital not only to the success of BEC, but ensures we meet your needs and expectations.

2019 Annual Report
If the person whose name is on the membership is NOT available to come to the Annual Meeting to vote, they may designate a person, who is at least 18 years of age and living in the household, to vote on their behalf. Instructions and certificates will be available in the July issue of "Rural Missouri." Only one proxy vote per person.
If the member whose name is on the membership cannot make the meeting, nor do they want or have a proxy voter, they may come to Boone Electric Cooperative, located at 1413 Rangeline St. in Columbia to fill out a ballot. The ballot cannot leave the building. The dates for absentee ballot voting will be published and communicated on social media.
A joint membership (often a married couple, but they will have had to sign up for service as a joint account, it is not automatic) have equal access to that account, but still have only ONE vote for that membership. An account and a membership are two different items. The vote may be made during the Annual Meeting, by proxy, or by absentee ballot.
